it is time, where both our nervousness and our giddiness is at its peak: THE D-DAY (also, reflection)

note: it is the 4th of december. no questions.

TODAY WAS OUR PERFORMANCE. WE DID IT. WE GOT ON STAGE AND ACTUALLY PERFORMED. let's take a deep breath together, because it was a long and hard journey, but we. did. it. and that's amazing. I AM SO PROUD. i really do feel like i'm a proud mom.

things that happened:
  • THE PERFORMANCES!!!!! the introduction, the songs, they hey judes and superstitions and thrillers sung out of our mouths. it was exhilarating, really. i am so amazed, even though there are a few things that i'm quite errr about - but still.
  • THE AUDIENCE. one word: thank you. you're the best. AND ALSO YOUR bagus bangets (that means so amazing in indonesian). thank you.
things that went good:
  • SINGING!!! HEY JUDE WAS AMAZING!!!!! SUPERSTITION TOO!!!! in my standarads (probably low, but this is really subjective), they were amazing.
  • JUST BASICALLY ALMOST EVERYTHING!!!!
things that went bad and needs improvement:
  • energy for thriller :((( I WAS SO SAD I WANTED TO DANCE. but peer pressure. but. there is this one funny story of me and rifa sort of awkwardly going off-beat and trying to fix ourselves though!
  • a few parts in the music.
but to be honest, overall, it was both an amazing performance and amazing experience. i loved working with the creative cycle group. i honestly do. thank you so much for this amazing semester, ibu megan and all of the other students!

141203 update (well, later, but)

note: let us pretend that the date is the 3rd of december and rewind. be careful, it's going to be an awesome ride of roller coaster (well, for me, but - yeah, never mind).

WE ARE AMAZING IN OUR REHEARSAL TODAY!!!! an actual rehearsal in the theater building! i am super stoked about the performance for tomorrow, and i'm sure the rest of the class is, too. the energy was wow and i can't wait to have fun in the performance tomorrow! yay!
  • hey jude: perfect.
  • superstition: perfect.
  • thriller: almost perfect. in my opinion.
i am maybe a little bit biased, but as you can see, i am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO happy for tomorrow!

141124 update

things that happened today:
  • tried to work on thriller. didn't work. bu megan was disappointed with us, and to be honest, so am i with myself. we decided to go and move thriller stuff to wednesday so we can practice the things we've been doing.
  • hey jude went okay, we just need to fix the ending part!
  • superstition. vocals still need to be louder and the kolintangs are still going too fast. i tried my best to get the tempo right but i got swallowed up with the majority of others. so frustrating! also can finally attempt the second set of notes.
  • the powerpoint made is going on smoothly!
i think that's it.

141117 update (actually three days later)

my mind's a bit fuzzy on what has happened because of exams. also, because i have just an okay memory on this since my mind was swarmed with EXAMSEXAMSEXAMS. huh, exams. but well, these are the things that happened monday! i think!
  • hey jude went ok! yay!
  • need to work on superstition's tempo and vocals and basically :( everything still :(
  • thriller! listened to backing track and assigned positions. and stuff. everyone's got their positions so we're all set i guess
  • also, behind-the-scenes positions too. it's only to operate the powerpoint + lighting and things like that woohoo
important announcement: our performance is pushed back because we're not prepared that much yet... as you can see... laughs...

141113 update

list of things we've done today (!!!):
  • hey jude is completed! we've sorted out the instruments and got the whole thing sound good and it's going on pretty good today! though there was complications on doing so, i think we're doing really great. so that's good. really good! we've spent 5/6 of the period to perfect this. oop.
  • superstition! i still have difficulties even in playing the first set of notes. that's not good. but overall we've done this pretty smoothly! also VOCALS! please. please. we all know you can be louder than that. YOU CAN. our drummer has been doing good too in the last run hehe.
  • listened to the thriller backing track today!
  • i think that's it?
things we need to do next week:
  • perfect hey jude and superstition
  • START ON THRILLER AND ROCK IT

141112 UPDATES (will try more of this)

sooooooo YEAAAAAH. haven't posted in weeks i'm a bit sorry of that but i will try to have more of that habit these days! i personally think we're doing okay - time still ticking, sadly! - but there are things we need to improve so a bullet list to update on what has been happening the other week (and other week, probably... sorry again)
  • hey jude's harmonization has been completed!!!!! though still needs practice
  • HEY JUDE'S INSTRUMENTS.... are a bit wonky..... as ibu megan said the only thing that's in tune for today is the piano :( but we're working on that
  • SUPERSTITION!!!!!!!!!!!! everyone has been amazing with that. the instruments are a+++
  • kolintang needs a bit of work though, mostly to keep in track with the tempo and stuff! also a bit of difficulty on the second set of notes but we can do it (i really hope so but i'm positive)
  • also vocals..... you can do it dandy..... BE LOUDER. everyone BE LOUDER. not so much on kolintang though because the vocals need to shine
  • WE DECIDED ON THRILLER!!!!! farah + dom is going to sing. there will be a - can i say it ibu megan haha? ha - backing track to support the vocals and stuff. there's going to be dancers if we work super hard on it! possibly more vocals too.
i think that's all? WE CAN DO IT!!!!

The Top Five Ideas (well, at least, according to me)

AAAAAAND here it is! the final shoooowdown. okay so this list is purely from my own opinion and i don't want anyone to feel as if their idea isn't good if it's not shown up in any list! it's just that we have different opinions and preferences yeaaaaaaah so let's start from the fifth!

5. horror musical
i actually really love this one haha! i've always been a fan of horror (mostly gore but only through writing - i can't stand images!), but i think this will be a bit hard to get through. some people don't like horror and we don't know what they're scared/frightened/icked about :(

4. battle of the genres
THIS IDEA IS SO COOL I'M HONESTLY EXCITED. we can get into different groups so the management thing would be minimized into small groups! so it wouldn't be overwhelming. i like this. imagine metal rock battling classical pieces? i'm up for that.

3. battle of the traditional and modern instruments
BUT THINK ABOUT HOW COOL IS THIS. i love the idea. especially the one where someone in class suggested (sorry i forgot) that it melds into one at the end! there's actually no better type of instruments, it's all up to the person's own preference(s), so i think this is REALLY cool.

2. magical, musical carpet/ship/etc ride
GENIUS IDEA! we can sing multiple songs from a continent instead to save time. it's like an exploration - a journey, and i really like it!

and drumroll please! [drumrolls]

1. one-hit wonders
pls don't kill me for making my own idea a favorite ok. i think this came from someone who was talking and then they mentioned "songs that only have been popular once" or something - and my mind instantly clicked with that! apparently ice ice baby is a one-hit wonder, and i wonder if stacie orrico's stuck is one too. i really like that song! a list in wikipedia said macarena is one. i think this idea would be SUPER fun.

where we brainstormed about ideas (updated!)

so on thursday we brainstormed ideas. ibu megan actually wanted, like, one hundred and more, but i think we were all brain dead thinking about our math test scores that day haha. here is the list of what i got from that discussion - sadly i forgot some of what was discussed, but here it is!

creative cycle ideas:
  • medley: of an artist or a movie, e.g. maroon 5 medley or tron: legacy medley
  • big band
  • body percussion
  • choir
  • beatbox
  • instrument choir: ??? we're not so sure what this is about)
  • acapella
  • acapella, instead with only body percussion
  • musical story: telling a story through music
  • cultural medley music/dance
  • street themed musical
  • sister act
  • rap battle
  • mash up
  • sister act/grease
  • slow music changing to upbeat energetic thing
  • battle of the bands
  • battle of the genres
  • battle of modern and traditional instruments
  • evolution of music
aaaaand there it is!

[EDIT 140909] we brainstormed new ideas! how cool is that? (ok, maybe not that spectacular. but still, i was able to have one (brilliant - no, i'm joking) idea to go to it! ok, now, let's go.
  • marching band (singing): basically a marching band but with just singing
  • disney songs
  • short film set to music: about our class' journey
  • musical story
  • musical magical carpet ride (around the world): we land on different countries to sing their songs. but that seems too time consuming? maybe continents instead
  • cartoon music
  • michael jackson -tribute to past singers (dead) - classic - short film
  • legends in music: maybe divas instead??
  • one hit wonders
  • horror musical
  • going forward to the past: 70's, 80's

inspiration!

i'm here to tell one of my inspirations haha! i usually type like this so sorry about the non-capitalization.

so these days i've been scouring for new music and i reaaaaaally liked sleeping at last's stuff! i plan to download everything from his 'atlas' series, but i currently have downloaded atlas: space I & atlas: space II, and also atlas: darkness! this is one of my favorites from those three albums.

my favorite line(s) of lyrics from here are: thread by thread i come apart / if brokenness is a work of art / surely this must be my masterpiece, because he sounds really broken here. and it's really amazing. also i'm only honest when it rains / if i time it right, the thunder breaks / when i open my mouth / i wanna tell you but i don't know how because the image is really strong for me. it's just!! i love love love music like this. so yeah.

and here comes my k-indie spot haha. i really loved thornapple's new album! ohhh also one of the songs are also where i got my URL from (물가의 라이온 which means Lion On The Shore). the title track is soooo good!

sadly, there's limited information on the lyrics because k-indie isn't that popular T______T

time for kpop choreos weehee. bangtan's choreo for 'danger' is all kinds of amazing. just watch the dance. i don't really like the song that much anyways haha.

really powerful. also that guy in that stussy shirt (jhope) is definitely one of my favorite dances.

thanks for reading!
